Centre for Democracy and Human Rights

The Centre for Democracy and Human Rights (CDHR) in Somalia, founded in October 2001, works to promote successful federal democratic transition values and integrity for Somali citizens in respect to the International Principles and Universal Declarations of Human Rights as common standards of achievement for all people in Somalia to create conditions whereby each individual can enjoy universal human rights and fundamental freedoms. CDHR promotes the protection of human rights in compliance with international human and humanitarian rights obligations without distinction of any kind, such as race, color, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.


The Center for Democracy and Human Rights (CDHR) contributes to strengthening and building State and Non-state actors’ capacities relating to the protection of human rights through promoting democratic political culture, Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.


Policies for inclusion and participation of all Somali citizens are guaranteed through social, economic, cultural and political cohesion with the commitments of federal and state level governments to ensure a just society freed from all forms of harm and violations.


Strengthens goodwill atmosphere to promote democracy and good governance through Civil Society, Rule of Law, Security Architecture, Respect and protection for Human Rights, and Freedom
